At Altona North Primary School, our STEM program encourages students to explore science, technology, engineering, and maths through hands-on projects and collaborative learning, helping them build critical thinking and problem-solving skills across all levels.
Prep - Grade 2: Laying the Foudations
In the early years, we focus on fostering a love of exploration and discovery. Through hands-on activities, experiments, and age-appropriate technology, students begin to develop foudational skills in problem-solivng, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Grades 3-4: Growing Confidence and Creativity
As students progress, they start to take on more complex challenges. In Grades 3 and 4, our STEM program introduces more advanced tools and concepts, such as robotics, coding, and design thinking. Students work on projects that encourage teamwork and innovating thinking.
Grades 5-6: Innovating for the Future
Our senior students dive deeper into STEM fields, engaging in more advanced projects that emphasise critical thinking and real-world applications. They also have the opportunity to showcase their work in the Grade 5/6 Robotics Expo.
